It’s just like they say: “No day but today!” That is, today, May 29, Tamyra Gray, who was a first season finalist on “American Idol” and finished in 4th place, joins the cast of Broadway’s Rent as Mimi Marquez!

Tamyra’s no rookie to Broadway; she made her Broadway debut in Bombay Dreams.

She has also been seen on a number of television shows and movies, and has written songs for several other “American Idol” contestants, including the song “I Believe” for “American Idol” winner Fantasia Barrino (who coincidentally is also starring on Broadway in The Color Purple).

Catch her while you can, because this new Broadway diva will only be performing in Rent until November 25th, 2007.
