The American Theatre Wing’s 63rd Annual Antoinette Perry “Tony” Awards took place Sunday night, June 7 at Radio City Music Hall. CBS presented a live broadcast from 8-11 p.m. Eastern/7-10 p.m. Central.
The Tony Awards are the most prestigious awards in the theatre world.

The nominees for the American Theatre Wing’s 63rd Annual Antoinette Perry “Tony” Awards were announced this morning (May 5) by Tony Award winners Cynthia Nixon (Rabbit Hole) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights).
The Tony Awards are the most prestigious awards in the theatre world. Who do YOU think will win?

The nominations took place at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center in New York.

According to a Yahoo news article Producer James L. Nederlander has said that he has acquired the rights to produce a stage version of Michael Jackson’s hit music video “Thriller”.  As of right now there are no firm plans for the show, but stay tuned to Musical Reviewer as we get information on this new show.

While many shows on Broadway are suffering due to the economy, there’s still some room for celebration: Disney’s The Little Mermaid is celebrating its first anniversary on Broadway today, January 10, 2009. It is playing at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, and as of now there is no talk of a closing date.
The popular under-the-sea show is based on the Disney animated film of the same name, which in turn was (VERY) loosely based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale. (Andersen wrote a not-so-happy ending.)
