More casting news and discussion on the “Into the Woods” film adaptation front!

The Two Princes

Via the Hollywood Reporter, Jake Gyllenhaal (Off-Broadway in If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet, “Brokeback Mountain,” “Source Code”) and Chris Pine (onstage in The Atheist, “Star Trek”), are in discussion to play the two Princes (Gyllenhaal as Cinderella’s Prince; Pine as Rapunzel’s Prince). They reportedly sang for Rob Marshall and it’s anticipated that they’ll receive offers.

Cinderella’s Stepmother

Tony Award winner Christine Baranski (“Mamma Mia!”), who took part of a reading of the screenplay adaptation of “Into the Woods” last fall where she played Cinderella’s Stepmother, is in talks to reprise that role.

Baker’s Wife

Emily Blunt (“The Devil Wears Prada,” “Looper”) is in talks to play the Baker’s Wife, opposite James Corden as the Baker.

Update on the Wolf and the Baker

Word on the street is that Johnny Depp has indeed signed on to portray the Wolf, while Tony Award winner James Corden (One Man, Two Guvnors) appears likely to portray the Baker.

The Witch

We previously reported that Meryl Streep has been cast in this role.
