Legally Blonde The Musical opens to previews at the Savoy Theatre on the West End Dec. 5. It will officially open on Jan. 13, 2010, and is currently booked through March 13.
Press materials describe the show: “College sweetheart and homecoming queen Elle Woods doesn’t take no for an answer. So when her boyfriend dumps her for someone serious, Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and heads for Harvard Law! Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.”
Sheridan Smith (Little Shop of Horrors, “Two Pints of Lager and A Packet of Crisps,” “Grown Ups,” “Love Soup,” “Benidorm”) plays college sweetheart Elle Woods (the role played by Reese Witherspoon in the 2001 film, and by Laura Bell Bundy in the Broadway premiere), with Duncan James (Member of the band Blue, Chicago, “Dancing on Ice,” “Summer School Musical”) as Warner and Alex Gaumond as Emmett. The show also stars Susan McFadden (“Grease is the Word,” Grease), Aoife Mulholland (“How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?,” The Sound of Music, Chicago, Chess in Concert), Peter Davison (“Doctor Who,” “All Creatures Great and Small,” “The Last Detective,” Monty Python’s Spamalot, Chicago), and Jill Halfpenny (“Strictly Come Dancing,” “EastEnders”).
