Our Favorite Highlights from the 2013 Tony Awards

Times Square, New York City

Some of our favorite quotes & videos from the Tonys. What were your favorites?

If you weren’t able to watch the Tonys live, you can watch them on the CBS website!

Can I have my Tom Hooper ‘Les Miz’ closeup please?
See, on Broadway we don’t need extreme closeups to prove we’re singing live. We sing live eight shows a week. Check it! — Neil Patrick Harris

That’s right it’s bigger.
I’m walkin’ down the aisle with some Newsies in tow.
This show is bigger.
Tonight it’s bigger.
If there’s a Newsie you prefer, you let me know…
You’ll get a Newsie in your gift bag when you go! — Neil Patrick Harris

There’s a kid in the middle of nowhere sitting there, living for Tony performances singin’ and flippin’ along with the Pippins and Wickeds and Kinkys, Matildas and Mormonses.
So we might reassure that kid and do something to spur that kid.
Cause I promise you all of us up here tonight.
We WERE that kid…
and now we’re bigger. — Neil Patrick Harris

Matilda Performance

Bring It On Performance

Enjoyed the Bring It On performance. Bravo, Lin-Manuel Miranda!

My husband could even tell it was from the creator of In The Heights. I wasn’t too sure about this being made into a musical, but if anyone could pull it off it’s Lin-Manuel Miranda. As a big fan of In The Heights, and his overall style, I’d like to get ahold of the cast recording.

Cinderella Performance

Who knew when we voted for Laura Osnes on the Grease reality show back in 2007, she’d come this far! A beautiful Cinderella!

Annie Performance

The cast of Annie performing “It’s a Hard Knock Life,” and Jane Lynch as Miss Hannigan singing “Little Girls.”

Loved the number with cancelled TV stars. Pure brilliance! Bravo!

Featuring Andrew Rannells (“The New Normal”), Megan Hilty (“Smash”), and Laura Benanti (“Go On”), all theater people whose aforementioned TV shows were recently canceled, along with Neil Patrick Harris bragging on his still-successful “How I Met Your Mother.” Written by five-time Tony Award nominee Michael John LaChiusa.

Pippin Performance

LOVED hearing “Corner of the Sky” & “Magic to Do” from Pippin. We did both in high school! Brings back great memories!

Kinky Boots Performance

The Kinky Boots conveyor belt dance was something else! Wow! Fun choreography!

*applause* Fantastic closing number written by Lin-Manuel Miranda DURING THE SHOW (!) and performed by Neil Patrick Harris with Audra McDonald!
