The Broadway touring production of Rent, starring original cast members Adam Pascal (Roger), Anthony Rapp (Mark), and Gwen Stewart (“Seasons of Love” soloist), will end Feb. 7 in Sacramento, CA, at Sacramento’s Community Center Theatre.

The current tour, which began on Jan. 6, 2009, in Cleveland, OH, will have played 373 performances in 39 cities.

Rent is currently the eighth longest-running show in Broadway history, having played for 5,123 performances and 16 previews after it opened on April 29, 1996 at the Nederlander Theatre on Broadway, before it closed on Sept. 7, 2008.

Rent was written by Jonathan Larson and directed by Michael Greif, and went on to win the 1996 Best Musical Tony Award and a Pulitzer Prize. Inspired by Puccini’s opera La Bohème, Rent “tells the story of a group of young artists struggling in New York’s East Village in the early 1990s and the obstacles they face, including AIDS, homelessness, poverty, lack of healthcare and homophobia.”

If you can’t get enough of Rent, you’ll want to purchase the Hollywood film version (featuring the original cast members) and the stage version of the final Broadway cast.
