The Tonys!

Wow, what an opening! By the way, I’m going to try to live-blog this…stay tuned as the show continues, and I continue to update this post.

Stockard Channing! Rizzo forever! She’s amazing, as always.

Shrek looks interesting, indeed. I love the Duloc “toy” dancers. I wish they’d have done a song that fully featured Sutton Foster — love her!

Angela Lansbury SO deserved the Tony for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play — and she’s got 5 Tonys now!

Yay! I love me some Dancing Queen!

*sigh* I love West Side Story. I wish my high school drama teacher hadn’t been so stringent about having a very-dark-Hispanic-looking Maria and team of Shark girls. He was SO adamant that not even the tannest Caucasian girls with dark hair were allowed. Instead, they sought out actual Hispanic girls who weren’t in choir (some couldn’t even sing or dance!) — JUST to be “politically-correct.” Yet not all Hispanic girls are that dark; some are lighter-skinned; kind of like Italians — some are brunette/brown eyed, and some are blonde/blue eyed. (And the rest of us very light-skinned girls were left in the dark to be Jet girls, who didn’t even get to sing!)

Rock of Ages: Constantine Maroulis — Nice to see him apart from when he was on “American Idol.” Rock on!

“I’m not Andrew Lloyd Sondheim.” HAHAHA!

“Don’t stop BELIEVING!” (Between Rock of Ages and Glee, I am loving the remakes of this song!)

Yay! “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat” from Guys and Dolls! LOVE the choreography!

Wow. The performance from Next to Normal, the song “You Don’t Know/I Am The One,” was so incredibly powerful! Her battle with bipolar and how it affects her family… the lyrics echo reality. That hits home — hard. Wow.

Bebe Neuwirth was so poignant during the tribute to those who’ve passed away this year. Sweet tribute to Natalie Richardson, as well. And we lost two Golden Girls this year: Estelle Getty and Bea Arthur!

Legally Blonde cracks me up. Always.

Kristin Chenoweth: on Hair performance: “And they managed to keep their clothes on and everything!”

Kristin Chenoweth: “Pal Joey … was a limited engagement, much like most of my relationships.”

“And the Tony Award goes to… my boobs.”

Wow, Hair won for Best Revival of a Musical! I’d kept hearing that prediction, though I hoped for West Side Story or Guys and Dolls.

Best Performances by a Leading Actor in a Musical: The three Billy Elliot boys! Hooray!

Aww, the Billy Elliot boys are SO adorable! They were speechless, and then thank their parents and 1, 2, and 3 sisters. Hahaha! Love them! Congrats, boys!

I KNEW Billy Elliot would win Best Musical! Hooray!

I LOVE NEIL PATRICK HARRIS!

“Credits! That’s not gonna stop me!” Hahaha — NPH ROCKS!

Great NPH “Tonight” (from West Side Story) parody of the Tonys.

I loved the Next to Normal number too. Very powerful and real. I sure hope that shows goes on tour so those of us outside NY can see it.
