Broadway In Chicago recently announced that Wicked will return for an eight-week return engagement, beginning Dec. 1, 2010 through January 23, 2011. The current national tour company will return to play this engagement — interesting, since they were the company that began the original Chicago production before leaving another resident company.
Wicked previously played Chicago’s Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre, for almost four years (June 24, 2005-Jan. 25, 2009). The eight-week engagement company is set to play the Cadillac Palace Theatre at 151 W. Randolph.
According to Broadway in Chicago, tickets will go on sale to Broadway In Chicago Subscription Series holders, as well as groups, next month (February 2010). Individual tickets will be available at a later date which is yet to be announced.
Right now there are eight on-going productions of Wicked worldwide: a Broadway production, two North American tours, a San Francisco production, a London production, a Japanese-language production, a German-language production, and an Australian production — a Dutch-language production is set to open in 2011.
