Broadway In Chicago recently announced that Wicked will return for an eight-week return engagement, beginning Dec. 1, 2010 through January 23, 2011. The current national tour company will return to play this engagement — interesting, since they were the company that began the original Chicago production before leaving another resident company.
Wicked previously played Chicago’s Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre, for almost four years (June 24, 2005-Jan. 25, 2009). The eight-week engagement company is set to play the Cadillac Palace Theatre at 151 W. Randolph.

Talk-show host Jerry Springer joined the Broadway cast of Chicago on August 18, playing the role of lawyer Billy Flynn. Springer recently played a limited run in the London company, as well.
You don’t have to go to New York to see Springer in Chicago, either. He will also be performing the role in limited engagements elsewhere: Sept. 8-13 at Atlanta’s Fabulous Fox Theatre and Sept. 15-20 at Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center’s Academy of Music.

Tom Wopat, likely best known for his role on “The Dukes of Hazzard,” returned to the Broadway company of Chicago yesterday, Feb. 16, at the Ambassador Theatre.
His other theatre credits include A Catered Affair and the Broadway revival of Annie Get Your Gun (opposite Bernadette Peters), 42nd Street, Chicago, City of Angels, Glengarry Glen Ross, Guys and Dolls, and I Love My Wife. He was nominated for a Tony Award for both A Catered Affair and Annie Get Your Gun.

Tony nominee Charlotte d’Amboise, who was most recently seen in the Broadway revival of A Chorus Line, returned to cast of the revival of Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre on Feb. 13.
She is no stranger to the show, nor to the role of murderess Roxie Hart, and will also portray Roxie when the national tour of Chicago comes to Chicago’s Ford Center for the Performing Arts from Feb. 26-March 8.

Broadway musical’s revival of Chicago kicks off its North American tour, extending a bit beyond North America itself, beginning with performances in Thailand’s Bangkok at the Muang Thai Rachadalai Theatre, from Feb. 12-22. This is Chicago’s Thailand premiere, bringing the revival’s numbers to performances in 24 countries, and translations into 11 languages (though this Thai production will be performed in English).
The cast includes Michelle DeJean (Roxie Hart), Terra C. MacLeod (Velma Kelly), Jeff McCarthy (Billy Flynn), Roz Ryan (Matron “Mama” Morton), and Ben Elledge (Amos Hart).

Amra-Faye Wright joined the Broadway cast of Chicago yesterday, Feb. 2, performing the role of Velma Kelly. She has previously performed in the London and South African companies of Chicago.
Previously she performed as Velma Kelly on Broadway in 2006, as well as portraying Sheila in A Chorus Line (Civic Theatre, Johannesburg), Vi Moore in Footloose (UK tour), and Sandy in Grease (Johannesburg Superbowl).

Hamlin plays lawyer Billy Flynn, while Rinna plays murderess Roxie Hart.

Broadway diva Bebe Neuwirth finished her stint as Roxie Hart in Broadway’s Chicago on April 22nd, 2007.
She created the role of Velma during the start of musical’s revival in 1997, and won a Tony Award for her role of Velma.
She returned to Chicago on December 31, 2006, to play the role of Roxie Hart.

My, how time flies! One minute he’s a teen heartthrob with his spouting his signature line, “Whoa!” from the family sitcom, “Blossom.”
Now Joey Lawrence, former teen heartthrob and child actor will soon have another title to add to his resume: Broadway performer. On May 4th Lawrence will join the Broadway company of the musical Chicago, portraying the role of lawyer Billy Flynn. He is scheduled to star through June 17th.
This will be his Broadway debut.
