The Broadway touring production of Rent, starring original Rent cast members Adam Pascal (Roger), Anthony Rapp (Mark), and Gwen Stewart (”Seasons of Love” soloist), will end Feb. 7 in Sacramento, CA, at Sacramento’s Community Center Theatre.

A better-late-than-never congratulations to Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs, who welcomed a baby boy on Wednesday, September 2. After he arrived, they promptly named him Walker Nathaniel Diggs.
This child is bound to have an amazing set of vocal pipes, considering both his parents have amazing voices. And he’s got good-looking genes on both sides! What a kid!

Rentheads’ (a.k.a. diehard Rent fans)  voices have been heard: the hit Broadway musical has been granted an extension, and will close September 7, 2008. This is an extension of approximately 3 months. (Previously a closing date of June 1 had been reported.) No doubt ticket demand had some influence in this case.

Don’t miss your chance to see original Renter Gwen Stewart on Broadway! Gwen was the the original lead vocalist for “Seasons of Love,” and went on to portray Joanne after the original lead left. She will be the vocalist for “Seasons of Love” during her return.
She returned to Broadway on April 29th, and she will be starring until May 27th.
April 29th also marked the 11-year anniversary of Rent playing on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre.

Neil Patrick Harris– theatre, television, & film actor and former child actor of “Doogie Howser” fame– will be appearing on “Ellen” on Thursday, April 19th.

Fantasia Barrino, who became an “American Idol” in May of 2004, will become the first American Idol winner to star on Broadway. Beginning on April 10th, she will portray the lead role of Celie in The Color Purple.
Incidentally, the role of Celie was originally portrayed by Whoopi Goldberg in the film “The Color Purple.”
