2009 Tony Awards Winners

The American Theatre Wing’s 63rd Annual Antoinette Perry “Tony” Awards took place Sunday night, June 7 at Radio City Music Hall. CBS presented a live broadcast from 8-11 p.m. Eastern/7-10 p.m. Central.
The Tony Awards are the most prestigious awards in the theatre world.

Stockard Channing! Rizzo forever! She’s amazing, as always.
Shrek looks interesting, indeed. I love the Duloc “toy” dancers. I wish they’d have done a song that fully featured Sutton Foster — love her!
Angela Lansbury SO deserved the Tony for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play — and she’s got 5 Tonys now!

2009 Tony Awards Nominations Announced!

The nominees for the American Theatre Wing’s 63rd Annual Antoinette Perry “Tony” Awards were announced this morning (May 5) by Tony Award winners Cynthia Nixon (Rabbit Hole) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights).
The Tony Awards are the most prestigious awards in the theatre world. Who do YOU think will win?

The nominations took place at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center in New York.

Set your DVRs tonight!
NBC’s Emmy-winning series “30 Rock” will gain some clout tonight as it receives some Tony Award-winning guest stars: Patti LuPone (most recently seen in the revival Broadway of Gypsy) and John Lithgow (most recently seen in the Broadway play All My Sons) are making a special appearance.
NBC describes the show as “a workplace comedy where the workplace exists behind-the-scenes of a live variety show.”
The episode is to be entitled “Goodbye, My Friend,” and airs on NBC at 9:3o PM ET; check your local listings for any discrepancies.

Broadway veteran Charlotte d’Amboise (pictured 2nd in from left in the 2nd row with red leotard) is joining the cast of soap opera “One Life to Live,” today, January 16, 2009. She will be playing the vice principal of the fictional Llanview High, Ms. Dickinson.
Coincidentally, her former A Chorus Line co-star Jason Tam (pictured 2nd from right in bottom row, in orange & white shirts) currently plays a student at the school, Markko Rivera.

The 61st Annual Tony Awards were held last evening, June 10, at Radio City Music Hall. Here are the Tony Award results!
Spring Awakening (musical) and The Coast of Utopia (play) were the big winners of the evening, especially for Best Musical and Best Play, respectively!
