2007 Tony Awards Emcees

Celebrity Presenters for the 2007 Tony Awards, direct from TonyAwards.com:

The Broadway and Hollywood stars on hand to hand out awards in the 25 competitive categories will include (subject to change):

Jane Alexander – a seven-time Tony nominated actress who won in 1969 for The Great White Hope. She served as chairperson of the National Endowment for the Arts from 1993 to 1997.

Christina Applegate – an Emmy Award-winning performer. She was a 2005 Tony Award nominee as Best Actress in a Musical for her Broadway debut in the title role of a revival of Sweet Charity.

Zach Braff – the actor, director, screenwriter, and producer who plays J. D. on “Scrubs.” He wrote and directed the film Garden State and appeared Off Broadway in various productions of Shakespeare.

Harry Connick, Jr. – a two-time past Tony nominee as a composer and a performer

Claire Danes – stage and screen actress (“My So-Called Life”) and Off Broadway veteran

Jeff Daniels – a film and Broadway star who appeared Off Broadway this season in Blackbird. He is the executive director of the Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea, MI.

Brian Dennehy – a Tony Award-winner as Best Actor in a Play for his performances in Death of a Salesman (1999) and Long Day’s Journey Into Night (2003). He is currently appearing in Inherit the Wind.

Taye Diggs – a performer who has appeared on Broadway in Carousel, Chicago, Rent, and Wicked, and who joined with Jane Krakowski to announce the 2007 Tony Award nominations on May 15.

Harvey Fierstein – four-time Tony Award-winning actor and dramatist who will next appear on Broadway in A Catered Affair, for which he is also writing the libretto.

Carla Gugino – screen star whose roles have included Ingrid Cortez in the Spy Kids trilogy and the title character of the TV series “Karen Sisco.”

Marvin Hamlisch – the two-time Tony Award-nominated composer. He is one of the few people to have won an Oscar, an Emmy, and a Grammy in addition to a Tony Award, which he won for A Chorus Line.

Marcia Gay Harden – the two-time Academy Award-nominated actress who earned a Tony Award nomination for her Broadway performance in Tony Kushner’s Angels in America.

Neil Patrick Harris – a Broadway and television veteran (“How I Met Your Mother”) whose most recent Broadway appearance was in Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman’s Assassins

Anne Hathaway – an actress whose notable film roles include performances in The Princess Diaries (2001) and The Devil Wears Prada (2006).

Anne Heche – film and theatre actress whose Broadway appearances include Proof and Twentieth Century

Marg Helgenberger – Emmy-award winning star of “China Beach” and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

Judd Hirsch – a Tony Award-winner for his performances in Herb Gardner’s I’m Not Rappaport and Conversations with My Father, and an Emmy Award-winner for his performance in TV’s “Taxi.”

Felicity Huffman – Star of TransAmerica and “Desperate Housewives,” who appeared on Broadway in David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow

Mark Indelicato – the young actor and singer who currently plays Justin Suarez on the television series “Ugly Betty.”

Eddie Izzard – the actor, writer, and comedian. He is a two-time Emmy Award winner, as well as a Tony Award nominee for his performance on Broadway in Peter Nichols’ A Day in the Death of Joe Egg.

The Jersey Boys: Christian Hoff, Daniel Reichard, J. Robert Spencer and John Lloyd Young – the stars of the 2006 Tony-winning Best Musical Jersey Boys; Hoff and Young are 2006 Tony-winners for their performances.

Melina Kanakaredes – The “Providence” and “CSI: NY” star who has played Sally Bowles on Broadway in Cabaret.

John Kander – the composer of the musical Curtains, which has received eight 2007 Tony Award nominations, including Best Score. He has previously been nominated for 11 Tony Awards, winning three.

Jane Krakowski – Tony Award-winner for her performance in the musical Nine, and star of television’s “30 Rock”

Angela Lansbury – A four-time past Tony Award-winner and a 2007 nominee for her current performance in Terrence McNally’s play Deuce

Robert Sean Leonard – a three-time Tony Award nominee who won a Tony in 2001 for his role in Tom Stoppard’s The Invention of Love. In addition to his many films, he currently appears in television’s “House.”

Patti LuPone – a three-time Tony Award nominee and winner in 1980 for Evita, who will be starring in Gypsy at City Center Encores! this summer.

John Mahoney – the 1986 Tony Award-winner as Best Featured Actor in a Play for The House of Blue Leaves. He starred as Martin Crane on “Frasier,” and appeared on Broadway this season in Prelude to a Kiss.

Audra McDonald – Tony-nominated star of the current Broadway production of 110 in the Shade, and a four-time past Tony-winner

Idina Menzel – winner of the 2004 Best Actress in a Musical Tony Award for her performance in Wicked. She originated the role of Maureen in the musical Rent.

Bebe Neuwirth –she won her second Tony Award in 1996 for portraying Velma Kelly in Chicago, a production to which she returned this past winter (but in the role of Roxie Hart). She is a two-time Emmy-winner for “Cheers.”

Cynthia Nixon – the Emmy-winning “Sex and the City” star who has appeared on Broadway regularly since 1980, and who won the 2006 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for Rabbit Hole.

Donny Osmond – the entertainer who, in addition to his recording and television career, has appeared widely in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat¸ and who starred on Broadway in Beauty and the Beast earlier this season.

Bernadette Peters – a seven-time Tony Award-nominee who won Tony Awards for Song and Dance and Annie Get Your Gun.

David Hyde Pierce – Broadway and television actor and multi-Emmy Award-winner who is Tony-nominated for his current starring role in Curtains

Christopher Plummer – a two-time past Tony Award-winner who received his seventh Tony nomination this year for his current performance in Inherit the Wind.

Phylicia Rashad – a Broadway and television regular who in 2004 became the first African American to win the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play, for her performance in a revival of A Raisin in the Sun.

Anika Noni Rose – after winning the 2004 Best Featured Actress in a Musical Tony Award for her performance as Emmie Thibodeaux in Caroline, or Change, she starred in the film version of Dreamgirls.

Liev Schreiber – filmmaker, performer, and past-Tony winner who is a nominee for his current performance in Eric Bogosian’s Talk Radio.

Harry Smith – an anchor on CBS’s “The Early Show” who has covered Broadway theatre for many years.

Kevin Spacey – past Tony- and Oscar-winner and artistic director of the Old Vic theatre in London, who is currently appearing on Broadway in A Moon for the Misbegotten

Tommy Tune – a performer, director, and choreographer who has been nominated for 13 Tony Awards, winning nine.

John Turturro – stage director and Emmy Award-winning actor who appeared on Broadway in Yazmina Reza’s Life (x) 3

Usher – a five-time Grammy Award-winning R&B/pop singer and actor who appeared on Broadway in Chicago

Ben Vereen – a Tony Award nominee in 1972 (Jesus Christ Superstar) and winner in 1973 (Pippin) whose most recent Broadway appearance was last season as the Wizard of Oz in Wicked.

Sam Waterston – an Emmy- and Tony-nominated actor, known in television for his 13-year (and counting) tenure as Jack McCoy on “Law & Order.”

Patrick Wilson – a Broadway leading man who has received Tony Award nominations for his performances in The Full Monty and Oklahoma!

Rainn Wilson – television star of “the Office” and “Six Feet Under”

Vanessa Williams – recording artist, stage and screen actress, 2002 Tony nominee for her performance in Into the Woods, and current star of TV’s “Ugly Betty”
